Module 04 — Store Building That Converts
Writing Product Pages That Sell (Not Describe)
12 min · text · Beginner
Product page copy is the difference between a shopper and a buyer. The best copy in dropshipping is not longer — it is structured. Today: the AIDA framework translated into real examples that work on shoppers.
Why product copy matters more than image count
Two identical product images, one with weak copy, one with strong copy:
- Weak copy: "Portable phone charger. 10000mAh. Fast charging. Works with iPhone and Android."
- Strong copy: "Your phone dies at 3pm. This gets you through the day — twice. Charges any phone in under an hour."
Same product. Same image. Different copy = 1.5-2.0x difference in click-through rate and conversion.
The AIDA framework for dropshipping
AIDA = Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. It's the template that converts.
Attention (hook, first sentence)
Your headline must speak to a pain point or desire before your customer knows they want it. The goal: make them stop scrolling.
Pain-point hooks (what problem does this solve?):
- "Your items keep slipping out of your pockets" → Phone grip
- "That charging cable breaks every 3 weeks" → Braided cable
- "You can't sleep with light in the room" → Sleep mask
Desire hooks (what does this promise?):
- "Cook like you have a personal chef" → Kitchen gadget
- "Become a morning person (without the alarm nightmare)" → Coffee machine / timer
- "Your apartment finally has style" → Home decor
The hook should be 1 sentence, 5-12 words, and immediately recognizable as your problem.
Interest (benefits, not specs)
After you've hooked them, give them 3-5 reasons to believe. But here's the mistake: beginners list features. Winners list benefits.
Feature vs benefit:
| Feature (wrong) | Benefit (right) |
|---|
| "Made of silicone" | "Won't crack or degrade — lasts 5+ years" |
| "30-hour battery" | "Charge once, use all week" |
| "Waterproof" | "Shower, swim, sweat — doesn't matter. Still works." |
| "USB-C charging" | "Charges in 40 minutes from zero" |
| "Works with iOS and Android" | "Works with your friends' phones too — universal" |
The benefit rule: finish every feature with "so that..." For silicone: "so that it doesn't degrade."
For a pet grooming glove: feature is "soft nylon bristles," benefit is "your pet won't squirm or bite — they enjoy it."
Desire (social proof and specificity)
At this point your customer believes the product works. Now convince them others have already bought it and love it.
Social proof options:
- Review count: "4.6★ from 487 orders"
- Specificity: "427 people bought this last week"
- Scarcity: "Only 23 left in stock"
- Testimonial: Quote from a real review: "This changed my morning routine. Worth every dollar." — Sarah, Melbourne
- Customer photos: 3-5 photos of real people using it (most powerful)
Avoid fake proof ("As seen on Oprah" or "Chosen by dermatologists" if they're not). Customers are skeptical of unverified claims. Real reviews and numbers win.
Action (clear CTA with urgency or reason)
The close must be clear and time-sensitive. But don't overdo artificial urgency.
Strong CTAs for dropshipping:
- "Add to cart — Ships in 3-5 days"
- "Get yours now — Only 18 left at this price"
- "Secure your order — Out of stock after Thursday"
- "Ships free on orders over $30"
Weak CTAs:
- "Buy now" (nobody cares)
- "Click here" (waste of pixels)
- "Add to cart" (missing the reason)
Real product page template
Here's a template you can copy-paste and modify for any product:
---
[HOOK — 1 sentence, pain point or desire]
[INTEREST — 3-5 benefits, one per line]
- [Benefit 1: Solves pain point 1]
- [Benefit 2: Solves pain point 2]
- [Benefit 3: Differentiator vs competitor]
What's included: [List what they actually get: quantity, color options, packaging]
Why people buy this: [One short testimonial or stat]
Add to cart — [Reason: Ships in X days / Limited stock / etc.]
---

The copy hierarchy
Not all copy is equal. Prioritize in this order:
- Headline (hook) — 60% of your conversion depends on this
- Benefits (interest) — 25%
- Social proof (desire) — 10%
- CTA (action) — 5%
If you have 60 seconds to write product copy, spend 30 on the hook. The hook determines whether people read the rest.
Why this matters
Copy is not an art. It's a formula. Master the AIDA framework and your conversion rate rises 0.6-1.2%. Every percentage point at 100 orders per month is
