Module 10 — Niche Selection & Market Validation
The Niche-Validation Matrix (60-min framework)
13 min · interactive · Beginner
You have a niche and validated demand. Now: is your specific product a winner or a dud? The Niche-Validation Matrix scores your product across eight dimensions in 60 minutes. One tool, one framework, zero guessing.
The eight dimensions of niche validation
Your niche is proven. But within that niche, thousands of products exist. A pet supplies niche is valid, but is a slow-feed dog bowl the right product or is it a slow-moving dud?
The Niche-Validation Matrix scores a product across eight dimensions that predict profitability. Each dimension is rated 1-10, with a weighted total score. Products scoring 65+ are winners. 40-65 are maybe-bets. <40 are duds.
The eight dimensions
Dimension 1: Demand (weighted 15%)
What you are measuring: Is there real, sustained search interest in this specific product?
How to score:
- Google Trends index 70-100 in AU = 10 points
- Index 50-70 = 8 points
- Index 30-50 = 6 points
- Index 10-30 = 4 points
- Index <10 = 1 point
Example: "Slow feed dog bowl" has AU Trends index of 65 → score 8
Dimension 2: Margin (weighted 15%)
What you are measuring: After COGS, shipping, and platform fees, how much profit do you keep per sale?
How to score (at A$30 retail, typical AU price point):
| COGS | Shipping | Platform fees | Net margin | Score |
|---|
| A$3-4 | A$3.50 | A
.00 | A
