Module 05 — Facebook & Instagram Ads for Dropshippers
Working With Meta Auto-Optimisation Without Losing Control
8 min · text · Intermediate
Advantage+ is automated. That does not mean you sit back. The difference between letting Meta run your campaign into the ground and letting it cook is understanding four simple rules: the 14-day rule, the 20% rule, and two override conditions.
The Advantage+ black box: What Meta is actually doing
Advantage+ Shopping campaigns are designed to be "set and forget." Meta controls:
- Audience targeting (millions of user signals)
- Creative selection (which image/video serves to which user segment)
- Placement (Facebook feed vs Reels vs Messenger vs Audience Network)
- Bid strategy (automatically adjusts bids to hit your ROAS target)
What you control:
- Budget (total daily/campaign)
- Creative assets (20-40 variants that Meta picks from)
- Product catalog (which products are eligible)
- Target ROAS (optional; if set, Meta optimizes for it)
The AI is learning which user segments convert best for your specific product and automatically reallocating spend. On day 1, Meta is blind (no data). By day 14, Meta has seen 500+ conversions and has confidence. This is the learning curve.
The 14-day rule: Do not pause Advantage+ before day 14
This is the single most expensive mistake operators make.
What happens on each day:
