Module 06 — TikTok Shop & TikTok Ads
Producing Organic Content That Converts to Sales
13 min · text · Intermediate
The creators who succeed on TikTok are not geniuses — they are systematic. They have shoot lists, hook formulas, caption templates, and reuse frameworks that work. Today you steal the exact playbook and turn it into a 4-week content calendar.
Parallel to Module 5: Same testing framework as Meta, but TikTok rewards raw authenticity over polish — faster iteration, shorter creative lifecycle.
The difference between random videos and a content system
Most beginners record 5-10 TikToks of their product, hope one goes viral, and call it "testing." Creators who hit 100k views consistently use a system: same hook structure, different angles. Same caption formula, different products. Same shoot location, different lighting.
Your first goal is not viral video. It is a repeatable system that ships 3 videos per week for month one, all built on the same editorial framework.
The hook templates that work on TikTok
TikTok rewards hooks in the first 0.5 seconds. After that, retention drops linearly. Here are the five hook templates that consistently hit 100k+ views on product content:
1. The pattern interrupt (0.3s)
"POV: You've been doing [common habit] wrong the entire time." "That moment when you realize you could've saved [amount] by using [product]." "Nobody talks about how [product] solves [hidden problem]."
Example: "POV: You've been feeding your dog wrong the entire time. Watch what happens." (Cut to dog using feeding gadget, eating slower, less bloating.) 15 seconds. Pattern interrupt + curiosity gap.
2. The transformation (1-2s)
Before-and-after visual change. Before you use product / after you use product. Before your setup / after your setup.
Example: "Before: messy cables everywhere. After: [cable organizer product] and my desk looks like a tech YouTuber setup." Jump cut between the two states. Transformation happens in the visual, not the narration.
3. The social proof / demo (1.5-2s)
"4,200 people ordered this last week. Here's why." "This product has 1.4M views on TikTok. Let me show you what I paid for it."
Pair text-on-screen with a clear product shot. Show the product, show it working, show the price. Do not narrate this — let text and visual carry it.
4. The unexpected use case (1-2s)
"Nobody expects this product to solve [X]. Here's what happened when I tried it."
Example: "Nobody expects a dog water bowl to prevent dental problems. Let me show you the science behind it. [Cut to scientific infographic or animation]. Here's where to get one." Curiosity driven by the reframe.
5. The speed unbox (10-15s)
Fast-cut unboxing. Package arrives → open → product inside → you using it → price on screen. ASMR-friendly if you have the audio right (bubble wrap, cardboard tear, product click).
This is the lowest-effort hook for beginners. You do not need a creative angle. Fast cuts, close-ups, and real product audio carry it.
The shoot list (one week, three videos)
You do not need a professional setup. You need one location, natural lighting, and a phone. Here's what a three-video week looks like:
Monday: Pattern interrupt + transformation
- Film the "before" state of the problem the product solves (30 seconds)
- Film yourself using the product (15 seconds)
- Film the "after" state (15 seconds)
- Film a 5-second close-up of the product and price
- Total shoot time: 20-30 minutes
Wednesday: Demo + social proof
- Film yourself unboxing the product (fast cuts, 10 seconds)
- Film yourself demonstrating one clear use case (15 seconds)
- Overlay text: "[X] people ordered this last week. It costs $[price]."
- Film a final call-to-action (5 seconds, direct camera, smile)
- Total shoot time: 15 minutes (much of this is you narrating into the phone)
Friday: Speed unbox or unexpected use case
- If unexpected use case: film the problem, narrate the insight, show the product solving it (30 seconds total)
- If speed unbox: fast cuts of package arrival, unboxing, product close-ups, you using it (30 seconds total, set to trending sound)
- Overlay product price at the end
- Total shoot time: 20 minutes
Result: 3 videos, 60 minutes total shoot time per week, zero equipment needed beyond a phone.
Caption formula
TikTok captions drive click-through to your profile bio (where your shop link lives). Here is the formula:
- Hook statement that mirrors your on-screen text
- One sentence hook in bigger letters — repeat your pattern interrupt, benefit, or curiosity gap
- Link in bio
- 3-4 lines of context — what the product does, why it matters, where you found it
- Call to action — "Tap for the link", "See more", "Shop now"
Example for a pet feeding gadget:
"Your dog has been eating too fast (and that is why he is bloated)"
SLOW-FEED TECH CHANGES THE GAME
Link in bio
This slow-feed bowl forces your dog to eat in 7-minute intervals instead of 30-second gulps. Vets say it reduces bloating by 60%, cuts dental plaque buildup, and actually makes your dog enjoy meals longer.
